It is with a heavy heart that I write that my Oma (grandmother) is
currently in the hospital coping with a terminal illness. My Oma has always been
an incredibly strong woman and an inspiration to me and watching her handle her
recent news and impending death is no exception.
She has definitely moved us all with her faith and commitment to family in these
difficult times. Oma, I am praying for you and love you very much. Thank you for the beautiful memories and for
being strong enough to be a part of our wedding day. We will cherish that forever.
If you are lucky enough to have your grandparents at your
wedding, honour them. And if you have
already lost them, again, honour them. Grandparents are the roots of your
family tree and if yours are anything like mine, then they have instilled many
family traditions and have shaped our families into what they are today.
A trend to hit the wedding world in recent years is to
display your parents’, grandparents’ and great grandparents’ wedding photos at
your reception. It is a beautiful way to
pay tribute to them and it helps that it looks great too!
