Real Wedding: Cori and Jordan

"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other." - Audrey Hepburn

Cori and Jordan were married on May 20, 2012 in Toronto, Ontario. It was a sunny and warm day and the couple had their picture perfect wedding.  Every detail was planned and brilliantly executed by Sarah Cherry from Baker & Cherry Event Specialists. The Warehouse Event Venue was the host to this lavish affair and Scarlet O'Neill and Jesse Cappe of Big Ticket Productions were there to capture every moment.

Cori and Jordan said their "I do's" surrounded by their friends and family under the Chuppah which their groomsmen carried down the aisle. The flowers were created  by Susanna Carlascio at Wildflower & Company and were bright, bold and memorable.  It is easy to see why they were Cori's favourite detail from her wedding day.

C2 Catering Couture provided the food for the event and every dish was beautifully presented. Guests danced the night away to the tunes of Grooveyard.

Check out some highlights below from the talented Scarlet O'Neill:

Thank you Cori for sharing your wonderful wedding day with us. Wishing you and Jordan a lifetime of happiness!

From One Bride to the Next - Part Four

"The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy." - Yves Saint-Laurent

My next piece of advice will be short and sweet, and is again related to your hair and make up.  When you scroll through your pictures after your big day, you will notice that you appeared a little fresher and more polished earlier in the day; especially after outdoor photo shoots, the 12 minute hora and after your first dance-off.  You don't want your pictures to suffer because of your crazy dance moves or smooches, so keep your lipstick, bronzer and maybe a few bobby pins at your head table for quick touch-ups throughout the evening.  Having your necessities (yes, blot papers are necessities) near you will mean you don't need to leave the room to freshen up.  Ask your planner to give you a 2 minute warning before moments like your father-daughter dance or your cake cutting so you can quickly re-apply your lip tint and look perfect in your photos.

Keep it glamorous and feel (and look) your best from start to finish.

Yours truly,

A

For My Man...

"To the world you may just be one person, but to one person you may be the world." - Brandi Snyder

Today is a very special day for Mr. X and I. Not only is it Mr. X's birthday, but it is also our one year anniversary of getting engaged!!  One year ago today, Mr. X made me, without a doubt, the happiest girl in the world by asking me to be his wife. From that day forward our lives were changed and we have been riding high ever since.  I cannot believe what this past year has brought and I am so excited for the years ahead with my new hubby.

Today is a reminder to make your wedding day about your man, just as much (well, almost) as it is about you.  Mr. X made one request leading up to our wedding day; he wanted to play hockey that morning. Hockey has been a big part of Mr. X's life ever since he could tie up his skates and since his initial idea was a Stanley Cup wedding cake, this seemed relatively reasonable.  He invited his family and friends to join him on the ice, in their favourite jersey, for an outdoor game of 'pickup' hockey and a few bevvies.  Danielle Da Silva was there to capture the moments hours before we tied the knot.

Highlights from Mr. X's morning:

Happy Birthday Mr. X! I love you more than a blogpost can sum up and look forward to many wonderful memories to come. Thank you for an incredible year.

Yours Truly,

A (or I guess, Mrs. X)

Pointe Shoes and Soccer Balls

"You don't take a photograph, you make it." -Ansel Adams

Engagement photos are an integral step during your wedding planning process and should certainly not be overlooked. They present you with the opportunity to get to know your wedding photographer, get more comfortable in front of the camera and see what works and what doesn't before the big day.  They also offer great memories and pictures of you and your fiance which can be used for thank you cards, guest books, customized favors, save the dates or just for yourselves.

Recently, I came across a friend's engagement pictures which caught my eye since they were fun, playful and simply made me smile. I always like when couples look like they're having fun and add a personal touch. Andrew of Union Eleven Photographers captured some great moments between Sarah and Matthew. Their bright colours and smiles are contagious.

Thank you Sarah for sharing your beautiful photos.  I look forward to seeing your wedding pictures in September. Congrats again to you and Matthew.

“You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.” - Albert Einstein

For those of you who know me well, you know my almost sickening obsession for Scrabble.  I grew up playing "championship" games and "killer scrabble" tournaments with my family and my love for the spelling game only grew as an adult. Whether it's playing at a cottage until wee hours of the night with friends or playing at home with Mr. X, I will always enjoy the game. Some of my friends refuse to play with since I am slightly competitive but that doesn't stop me from taking joy in creating the game winning triple word score two letter words.

After scouring Style Me Pretty, Wedluxe, and Etsy, I discovered some amazing ways to incorporate Scrabble tiles into your Big Day.  I would love to add some of these details to our wedding but I'm not sure it works with our 'winter white' motif.  I love when personal details are brought into your decor and what better, and fun, way is there than adding a touch of your favourite childhood board game.

Check out some of my faves;

Another great idea is incorporating your favorite board games into a wedding shower, bachelorette or engagement pictures.  Get creative!!

Yours Truly,

A
