Keep On Truckin'

Let it be known that we are BIG fans of the late night wedding snack. We like a little salty along with our sweet, and you can count on party-goers appreciating a quick greasy fix post-dance floor. There are so many fabulously cute ideas for serving up delish mini eats at the stroke of midnight, but a relatively recent trend is the food truck phenomenon. Having one of those bad boys roll up will wow the guests while simultaneously satisfying their (most likely, drunken) cravings.

When it comes to Montreal, the talented foodies behind Grumman '78 deliver an array of tacos to die for, with vegetarian options like refried beans with Spanish pimento, pickled onions and julienne radish topped with feta, or the heartier braised beef burrito for meat lovers. End your evening with a fiesta!

In Ottawa, the renowned Relish the Flavour carts a slew of delectable delights, inspired by Canadian, Mexican and Asian flavours, such as the fried green tomato open faced sammy with basil mayo and home made potato chips, masa cakes with jerk chicken and mango salsa, and fresh mini doughnuts with strawberry sauce. Yes please!

Toronto hauls the likes of Gourmet Bitches, stacked with a seriously bitchin' menu. Besides the fact that we LOVE the name (obviously), this food truck totes something for everyone, with tamarind and kiwi beef sliders, dry rub chicken wings and Korean yam fries to name a few (there's even a kale and arugula salad with garlic chips for skinny bitches). Love it.

Gourmet grub like this will have your guests talking...with their mouths full.

Until next time,

A & S

Pretty in Pinkrubi

Finding the perfect gift for a relative or friend is no easy feat. No matter the occasion, it can often be a struggle to decide what to buy. I love shopping for my friends, but some are far easier to buy for than others (I won’t mention any names…cough, cough…A). With showers, weddings, and particularly this time of year, present scouting season is in full swing!

Luckily for me, Boutique Pinkrubi carries some of the most marvelous gift items this city has to offer.  And fortunately for all of you non-Montrealers on the same mission, they showcase their fabulous products on Facebook, so ordering and having things shipped right to your front door is a piece of cake.

Any and all of the shower, housewarming and engagements gifts I’ve purchased recently have come from this wonderful little shop, run by three lovely ladies, who always help make the selection process so simple.

How cute is this place?

Here are some of the latest additions to the PinkRubi collection;

Pinkrubi is a precious gem not to be missed!

Sincerely,

S

Cookie Creations

My hubby-to-be, Mr. Z (I suppose we’ll refer to him as so from now on), is a HUGE hockey fan. I’m talking fanatic. Thankfully, he is not the type to paint his face and chest at the game (a la David Puddy), but before the days of being able to record TV, all plans between the months of September and April (because his team typically didn’t make it much past the first round of the playoffs) revolved around the sport. Let’s just say PVR has improved my quality of life.

With the season just underway, and our wedding date right around the corner, I decided I wanted to send a little something sweet to my sweetie. The ladies at L&V Sweets made that a cinch! Offering an array of artistically impressive cookies to suit any occasion, these yummy treats are beautifully designed and equally delectable to taste!

For my man, I chose cookies with his hockey team’s logo. They were delivered (yes, they offer delivery on their orders) in a white box tied with white ribbon, and resting on top of this dozen were two cookies, one in the shape of a bride, the other a groom, and a card that read “One month today – I can’t wait to marry you!” He absolutely loved them (so much so that they barely lasted two days in our house before being all gone)!

Check out the adorable creations I sent to Mr. Z, as well as other fabulous faves:

These goodies make ideal favors for engagement parties, showers, and bachelorettes!
