Lovers' Libations

"Alcohol may be man's enemy, but the bible says love your enemy." - Frank Sinatra

Personalizing your wedding day details is ultimately what sets your event apart. For your reception, opt for a signature drink that best suits you as a couple or your wedding 'theme'. Curating your cocktail is a fun way to involve the groom in the planning process. Give him the job of creating the concoction and you can be the 'taste-tester'. Whether you choose 'his and hers' beverages, a personal favorite, or a family recipe; make your featured drink the focal point of your bar or cocktail hour, by accessorizing with stir sticks, coloured straws, fun flags or chic glassware.

If you and your man don't share the same taste in bevvies, check out The Knot's full guide to choosing the perfect cocktail for your event. Categorized by colour, flavor and season, you're certain to find the perfect match.

WTB Hearts: IMproper Greetings

Parties can be tricky to get started, especially when you have a room full of ladies that don't know each other.  Everyone has attended a party where you run out of things to say within minutes and find yourselves talking about the weather.  Having ice breakers or conversation starters around will help break this awkwardness earlier (especially if alcohol isn't being served) and will ease the guests at your party.

IMproper Greetings have a fun and bold napkin collection that we believe will have everyone at your next affair talking.  They have taken vintage images and paired them with florescent colors and crude sayings and we adore them! Some of them might have your guests roaring with laughter and other guests might shake their heads but either way you will have people talking.

Here are some of our favorite napkins from their collection:

Greetings!

Cheers to Fall!

"I'll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure." - Mae West

A wonderful way to add personal flair to an occasion is by showcasing a signature cocktail. The blend being served should be based on the guest(s) of honour, type of event, and time of the season. And since drinking out of a martini glass has a certain "je ne sais quoi" about it, we'd like to share some of our fave autumn-inspired mixtures.

Apple Tart-tini

  • 2 oz. citrus vodka
  • 1/2 oz. DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker schnapps
  • 1/2 oz. Cointreau orange liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake well with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with an apple slice.

 Banana Bread-ini
  • 1 oz. Frangelico liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. banana liqueur
  • 1 oz. biscotti liqueur
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 banana sprinkled with cinnamon
Combine all ingredients except the banana in a shaker. Shake well. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with 1/2 banana sprinkled with cinnamon.

 Pumpkin Pie-tini
  • 1/2 oz. Sylk Cream Liqueur
  • 2 oz. vanilla vodka
  • 1/2 oz. pumpkin liqueur or pumpkin spice syrup
  • 1 tsp. whipped cream
  • A cinnamon stick

Pour the Sylk Liqueur and vodka into a shaker and shake well with ice. Add the pumpkin liqueur or syrup and shake again. Strain into a martini glass. Top with whipped cream and garnish with cinnamon stick.

Hope you enjoy these sweet sips.

Until next time,
